No visit to the area would be complete without a trip to WWT
Martin Mere , near Burscough. Rare and exotic ducks, geese,
swans and flamingos can all be fed by hand at the centre.

The carefully planned walkways take visitors on a journey
around the world, from the Australian Riverway right through
to the Oriental Pen with its Japanese Gateway.

Imagine the spectacular sight of stunning wild swans and ducks, illuminated by floodlight just a few feet away from the heated observatory where you can watch in comfort. From November
to the end of January the swans are fed in this way, while a
warden commentates - ideal not just for bird watchers but families and educational groups as well.

Martin Mere also runs Downy Duckling Days in May, Dawn Flights, guests speakers, guided walks and more. Kids will love the adventure playground as well as the art and craft rooms, while everyone will enjoy a quick snack at the Pinkfoot Pantry. There is
also a gift shop and art and craft gallery as well as wheelchair
loan, a Braille Trail and tactile exhibits, by prior arrangement.
