We've Got Charming Villages
Enjoy beautiful old buildings, charming pubs and restaurants,
tourist attractions and more, at villages across the District.
Villages with real historic flavour, and place names left behind
from 1100 years ago with the Viking invasion of the region,
which reached out into West Lancashire and beyond.
Parbold, with its lively shopping area and excellent places to eat and drink, is one of the most popular villages. Parbold Hill is one
of the area's main landmarks with magnificent views across the countryside and visitors can enjoy strolling beside the Leeds/Liverpool Canal.
West Lancashire ’s waterways are an attractive feature of other olde worlde villages, such as Lathom, Great Altcar and Hesketh with Becconsall. Definitely worth a visit is Great Altcar boasting a famous Parish Church , built in 1879. The attractive black and white building with massive timbers is one of the last authentic timber framed buildings in the country.
Don't miss out on Newburgh with its village green, as well as the market gardening town of Tarleton and the close knit community of North Meols.
